Paralegal (Employment)
The GitLab Legal Employment team works closely with the Paralegal (Employment), on all matters that affect the entire employment relationship, from pre-hire to post-employment. These areas will include hiring practices, compensation, benefits, performance management, promotions/demotions, employment policies, contract templates, separations, enforcing post-contractual obligations, and litigation management where it arises, across the company’s global footprint.
This team member will be independent in their decision making and provide substantive and organizational support to the Legal team.

What will you do in this role
- Assist Employment team with a variety of compliance issues such as reviewing and updating employment policies.
- Assist in the processing of data subject access requests relating to employment.
- Assist the Director of Legal, Employment and Employment Counsel with employment litigation, claims, and related matters, including but not limited to, coordination with outside firms, coordination litigation hold response, assisting with investigation, responding claim/litigation request, preparing case documentation, and performing research.
- Prepare litigation summaries.
- Send correspondence and create legal documents.
- Send draft responses to government agencies.
- Manage service of process, garnishments, subpoenas and other legal notices. This includes collecting and analysing responsive information.
- Assign global employment-related tasks.
- Monitor and conduct research on employment law developments.
- Manage the Legal Issue Tracker and triage any issues received from both internal and external sources.
- Assist the Director of Legal, Employment and Employment Counsel with interfacing with the global People team and international network of outside counsel in regards to employment law queries and escalations.
- With other lawyers and internal stakeholders, project manage the employment aspects of strategic legal initiatives.
- Participate in the management of global employment forms and templates.
- Participate in the development and review of training programs related to employment.
- As needed, conduct research
- Assist with other projects when needed.
We’re looking for
- Experience as a paralegal in a law office, in-house legal department or a combination thereof is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational and analytical skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to tackle a range of issues.
- Highly technical skills, including G-Suite and Slack applications.
- Excellent accuracy, excellent attention to detail, and exceptional proofreading skills.
- A self-starter with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- A team player who can work in a collaborative environment and has a sense for humor.
- Experience using GitLab a plus.
- Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree

Compensation
This role has a base salary range of $61,600 to $92,400 for Colorado residents, and $61,600 to $125,400 only for New York and New Jersey residents. Interviews and a review by the applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as equity with other members of the team, determine grade level and salary ranges. Learn more about our equity and benefits. Sales positions are eligible for incentives pay up to 100% of their base salary. C.R.S. requires disclosure. SS 8-5-101 et seq.
